Today we want to tell you something about learning a language , and English in particular . Students used to learn languages by memorizing grammar rules and word list . Some unlucky ones still try to learn this way . It s almost impossible to become skillful in speaking a language unless you use it and all morden methods are based on this theory .The course you have been studying is audio -visual : this means it attemptd to teach you by matching sound and pictures .That s why it has been called LOOK ,LISTEN AND LEARN ! The pictures help you to understand ,remember and use the language you are learning .
These methods can be used in the classroom or in a language-laboratory .where students practise drills which have been recorded on tape .
English is the official language used in Australia ,Cananda, The British Isles , New Zealand , South Africa and The US of America . But it also has become international and is the principle second language throughtout the world . Perhaps through english we will be able to communicate whatever part of the world we come from .
